Adjunct Therapies
Massage Therapy
Chiropractic Care
Nutrition
Pilates/Yoga
This division covers multiple disciplines, from the traditional and well known,
such as nutrition, to the less traditional, such as acupuncture. Despite the
increasing popularity of some of the adjunct therapies, many times their use
with athletes tends to be underutilized. Although there are more and more
scientific studies being done to look at the benefits of some of these
therapies, such as massage therapy, yoga, etc., it is still difficult to measure
results. Therefore, some in the medical community have been reluctant to include
them in their treatment plans.
Just as in the choosing of physicians, it is important to choose the most
appropriate treatment modality and practitioner for the athlete. However, just
as in the case of physicians, there is no guarantee of results when
practitioners of any type are being chosen. Again, our faculty and referral base are chosen carefully with attention to safety and skill level, and with
the ultimate goal of enhancing the health, performance and well being of
athletes.
